Reviewing My Own Book On Goodreads?

Jagumaterra: A Science-Fiction Parable (Jagumaterra, #1)Jagumaterra: A Science-Fiction Parable by Regan Brianne Guerra
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It feels kind of strange reviewing my own book, but I guess if J.K. Rowling reviewed her Harry Potter series, I'd read it. (Not that I place myself remotely near her skill level. I still have quite a ways to go.)

Writing "Jagumaterra" took me six, almost seven, years to complete. It started out as a suggestion from my dad that I stop writing fan fiction and open up my own, original creation. Of course, he suggested the Jagumas to be horse people, but they weren't ferocious enough for me. ;)

It was a lot of fun, I found, to create a whole other world with its own customs, ways of speaking, legends, history, and religion. Of course, in the mind of a fourteen year old girl, the story and characters had much maturing to do. For example, originally, Ryedor was known as Abeni Fezah Sesen and Ishikarr was named Chipo Rashida Shakarri. It wasn't until I took the meaning of the first name and jumbled it all together that I found names more suited to otherworldly creatures.

I gave this book four stars because, while I am very satisfied with how it turned out, I know I can do better. I promise my readers a trilogy that will make you think and keep you guessing. In my own experience, the first book is usually the simplest. ;) I just hope you fall in love with the characters as much as I did and that you enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Best Regards,

Regan Brianne Guerra
